School Social Worker

Primary Responsibilities
- Conducting bio-psycho-social assessments and social histories;
- Assessing students for substance use, support systems, physical and emotional functioning, barriers to academic performance, peer issues, suicidal/homicidal ideation, and similar issues;
- Developing and implementing treatment plans and discharge plans that support student self-determination;
- Providing direct therapeutic services based in the teachings of Islam, to individual students, groups of students, and/or families;
- Providing crisis management services, including assessing for safety;
- Advocating for student services and students’ best interests;
- Providing case management services including, but not limited to, referrals to community resources, collaboration with other professionals;
- Providing training and workshops to teachers, school staff and parents, based in the teachings of Islam;
- Identifying and resolving ethical issues;
- Managing and supervising staff; and
- Contributing to a multidisciplinary treatment team
Candidate Qualification:
- Must hold a college degree in Social Work / Counseling (evaluation of degrees from overseas must be submitted)
- Must have necessary certifications to work as a school social worker
Candidate Experience:
- Must have experience conducting counseling / therapy sessions in school settings
- Must have sound understanding of the Islamic understanding and treatment of mental health issues
